The mission of our church is to be a presence of the Episcopal way of being a Christian in Lincoln County, Tennessee and wherever we find ourselves. To achieve this goal our church encourages members to support our various organizations and activities and share their time and talents with others.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is made up of dedicated men and women who clean and prepare the altar for all the church services and assist the priest in the liturgies of the church.

Acolytes

St. Mary Magdalene has an Acolyte Master who oversees acolytes of all ages. The acolytes are valued members of our liturgical worship.

Episcopal Churchwomen

The ECW is an energetic and vital organization at St. Mary Magdalene. All women of the church are invited to attend and take part in the monthly meetings. Various projects are carried out by this group. They include two annual rummage sales, regular visits to the local nursing homes, and a Country Store which features barbecue prepared by our renowned General Porktitioners. The Country Store is open during the annual Fayetteville Host of Christmas Past. Proceeds from these projects are used to fund various church outreach programs such as church camp scholarships, the Good Samaritan program, Christmas gifts for nursing home residents, and support for Hannah's House, a local shelter for abused women. An active ministry of the ECW is Rainbow which provides meals and other acts of kindness to parishoners who are ill.

Episcopal Kids

In order to involve children who are too young for EYC, our church began the ministry EK, for Episcopal Kids. This ministry offers opportunities for younger parishioners to socialize and participate in such activities as the Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween Carnival.

Episcopal Men's Group

The men's group of the church meets monthly at a local restaurant for breakfast and fellowship. Their ministry focuses on projects connected with the buildings and grounds of our church although they are invaluable supporters of the ECW, lending both time and talent to various ECW projects.

Episcopal Youth

During the course of the year the EYC stages a Halloween Carnival for the younger children, leads the annual Christmas Caroling, provides a smashingly wonderful pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday, performs service for the community, and takes numerous fun trips.

Lay Readers and Chalice Bearers

The lay readers and chalice bearers assist with the worship of the church. The diocese licenses parishoners who choose this ministry for three year terms, to read the lectionary of the day and to serve the chalice during the Holy Communion.

Memorials and Columbarium Committee

Members of the parish who serve on this committee oversee our perpetual memorial garden and columbarium for the burial of ashes on the grounds of St. Mary Magdalene Church.

Music

A nucleus of strong voices leads the "Choir of the Whole" at St. Mary Magdalene. The congregation has a solid repertoire of more than two hundred hymns and are practiced at two Communion settings. Congregational singing is accompanied by organ or guitar.

Renewal

Almost twenty parishoners have attended Cursillo weekends. St. Mary Magdalene and The Church of the Messiah, Pulaski, alternate hosting the combined South Central Tennessee Ultreya monthly.

The St. Mary Magazine

Our parishoners are scattered throughout the county. Therefore, communication is vital to the pursuit of our many activities. The St. Mary Magazine helps to link our parish family. Published monthly, the newsletter keeps us abreast of schedules, upcoming events, family news, and includes a message from our rector.

The Tuesday Prayer Group

This ministry was instituted nearly thirty years ago and is still going strong. Participants meet weekly in the parish hall kitchen. The group shares in Bible reading and prayer. A pillar of our spiritual ministry, the Tuesday Prayer Group is a rich tradition at St. Mary Magdalene.

The Vestry

The vestry is the elected governing body of the parish. Composed of nine members of the congregation, they assist the rector in the running of the parish. New members are elected at the annual parish meeting. The Vestry elects from its membership a senior warden, a junior warden, treasurer, and clerk. Members take this ministry seriously and are faithful in offering time and talent throughout their tenure.

Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is an Order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, or churches in communion with it, or churches who are in the Historic Episcopate. Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. Our chapter meets twice monthly on the first and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
